Since 1978, Miguel Chevalier has used computing as a means of expression in the visual arts.
He has established himself internationally as one of the pioneers of virtual and digital art. His work, both experimental and multidisciplinary, draws inspiration from art history, reinterpreting it by integrating essential concepts. He explores the question of immateriality in art and the dynamics introduced by computers, such as hybridization, generativity, interactivity, and networking.
Chevalier addresses several themes, including the relationship between nature and artifice, the observation of flows and networks that structure contemporary societies, the imagination of architecture and virtual cities, and the transposition of motifs from Islamic art into the digital realm. His works continuously question our relationship with the world.
Miguel Chevalier regularly exhibits in museums, art centers, and galleries around the world, and also works on public and architectural projects.
