Born in 1963 in the Netherlands, Marcel Wanders is a prolific designer and a true iconoclast of contemporary design. His eccentric, playful style, tinged with humor and irony, can be found in over 2,500 creations that have marked his era.
A key figure in design, he is best known for creating the iconic “Knotted Chair” in 1996, and for founding the lifestyle brand Moooi in 2001, a benchmark in avant-garde design.
Influenced by the Memphis movement and postmodernism, Wanders rejects minimalism and strict functionalism. He advocates an uncomplicated design, rich in color and luxurious materials, that celebrates beauty and dreams. His creations, often theatrical and immersive, invite discovery and pleasure.

Collaboration with Leblon Delienne
Renowned for his quirky, extravagant style, Marcel Wanders adds his own personal signature by reinterpreting Delft blue in the contemporary, even abstract world that characterizes him, painting the resin Mickey with his bare hands.
Through this creative approach, both sensory and artisanal, he reveals his own interpretation of this imaginary icon.
By combining Dutch heritage with the legendary Disney character and the exceptional craftsmanship of the Leblon Delienne workshop, Marcel Wanders subtly blends worlds and eras to create a timeless work of art.
Both Spirits are helpful to everyone they meet. They’re a natural part of their group, bringing positive things to everyone they interact with.
Inspired by Marcel Wanders’s “Monsters”, the Spirits characters were imagined with their arms open, as if longing for a hug.
We’ve also extended the collection with a Warner Bros. licensing collaboration.
